Ryan: Something from outer space
James: Is this a quiz? Ah?
Ryan: I know it's something to do with space
James: It's just a ball on a tripod.
Joyce: Well, you gave me a clue. I know what it is. It's the Sputnik.
Frank: They were all Sputnik. It was a long time ago. We were in competition with the Russian at that time about getting into the space program. That was quite a feat(??). Back then we were all wondering who was going to do it first.
Joyce: 1957 I was just raising kids, staying at home, taking care of children, doing my housework
Interviewer:Do you remember the excitement that surrounded the launch of Sputnik?
Joyce: oh, sure. Everybody was excited about it.
Interviewer:What did you think would happen?
Joyce: I had no idea what it would bring.
Malcolm: I was just going down the service. I remember that. I never thought about it so much then but you can see now it changed things completely.
Grant: I don't know nothing about it. I don't claim to.
Al: oh, yeah, it was a long time. To explore space, I think it is still exciting.
Joyce: I am like almost everybody else. I just take it for granted, 'cause it's there.
Malcolm: GPS
Ryan: XM Satellite radio.
Malcom: And my car has OnStar. I just think those things are amazing.
Ryan: Cell phone. Without cell phones it would suck. I would die without a phone for one day. It would be hard to talk to people. Everyone got cell phone nowadays.
David: I think it would be the same. (Interviewer: you don't depend on your cell phone?) I do, but I can live without it. I don't have to. (Interviewer: what about music?)That's a problem. I am very very into music. I love music.
Al: I'm wondering what's gonna be like 50 years from now, 'cause 50 years ago it's a different life style. We've come a long way.
