As Americans their select their next President, I believe they need a proven leader and a problem solver. During this campaign, when I talked about the goals I've set as president, whether it’s restoring fiscal discipline or improving security, I’ll be making promises based on a proven record. For example, I believe we need to restore the Republican commitment to fiscal conservatism, reducing government spending and cutting taxes by giving people more control over their own money and their own lives.

I believe in fiscal discipline and supply side economics because I practiced it for 8 years and I saw it worked. We cut taxes 23 times in New York, turning a 2.3 billion dollar budget deficit into a multi-billion dollar surplus, all the while balancing the city’s budget. We collected more money from the lower taxes and the city was collecting from the higher taxes. We put Republican ideas into action while working with the Democratic City Council, saving New York City taxpayers more than 9 billion dollars and bringing them their lowest tax burden in 3 decades. We also cut the size of government bureaucracy, 20 percent, excluding cops on the street and teachers in the classroom. We made Government smaller, smarter and more effective.

Improving America’s security is an essential responsibility for the next president. I understand the importance of improving security and enabling people to live in freedom from fear. It’s been the focus of my entire career. When I was first elected mayor, New City was considered as the crime capital of the country. We were suffering an average of 2,000 murders a year and 10,000 major crimes a week. Improving public safety was the essential first step to New York City’s researchers. We implemented pioneering strategies that measured crime in real time and allowed for the immediate deployment of police officers. We put criminals on defense and improved the quality of life for all our citizens. Over 8 years we cut crime in half and reduced the murder rate by 66 percent, turning New York into the safest large City in America according to the FBI.

I’m running for president because I know how to get things done, I proved it in New York and now we need to get things done in Washington.
