Linden, Teksas. Officer Sherry Gillespie makes a routine traffic stop, when the driver, Andrew Gray, suddenly starts to leave the scene. Gillespie stops the suspect and soon realizes he's got a warrant, but he's also high on crack and won't go back to jail without a fight. The drug-doubt man grabs the officer by the arm, then tries for the mace on her belt. Suddenly he gets hold of a gun. Gillespie fights to hang on to her weapon and push it away from her face. That's when civilian Pat Coughlan comes in to help the fallen cop.
“It was bad struggle and I've just going to help lady in distress under any circumstances.”
Help arrives at the moment the officer needs it the most.
“He had pointed the gun in her face and pull the trigger.”
The nine-millemeter clock is loaded, but miraculously jams. Coughlan grabs the gun and aims it at the cold blooded felon. He knows he's just saved two lives.
“He intended to kill her. If I would have hesitated even five seconds, he would shot me first, and then her.”
Mastering all her strenght Gillespie grabs her attacker by the leg and takes him down. She struggles to cuff would-be killer, when the officer gets some more assistance. A passing woman sees the parking lot battle and pins Gray to the pavement.
“She did a real good job and she actually saved me, 'cause I didn't have to shoot him.”
The woman keeps Gray sandwiched on the asphalt while Gillespie cops him. Coughlan keeps the gun cocked and [train on the bluedgeon] until the officer recovers.

Caughlan keeps the gun cocked and trained on the bludgeon, until the officer recovers.
