Description: In last month's earthquake in central China, thousands of children were killed when their school buildings collapsed. Now grieving parents are demanding answers from authorities as to why the buildings collapsed so easily. In the town of Du Jiang Yan, nearly 300 children were killed when their classrooms collapsed. But when Al Jazeera's David Hawkins went there, he found local authorities reluctant to allow the story be told.

their anguish is unbearableđŒŒparents come here to pray and remember to bring offering to their little ones up in heaven, nearly three hundred children died when this elementary school collapsedđŒŒ, half of the students in grades 2 to 6,the zhanjiang primary school in the city of Dujiangyan is just one of about 7000 schools that were reduce to rubble by the earthquake. Of the 69000 people believed deadđŒŒmore than 10000 were school childrenđŒŒShanjiqiuluo was 12 in fifth gradeđŒŒher mother says the picture was an old one and doesn’t do a justice. "She was a tall smart and beautiful girl",she says, and like most of her classmates and only child ,her parents had great hopes for her future, not any more, now they are `` It hasn’t escape anyone’s attention that although the school is in ruins, all the surrounding buildings are still standing. It’s exhibit except the earthquakes simply ruined the classrooms. But of course, that’s not what happened. The parents blame government’s corruption, poor construction methods, cheap building materials. The steel reinforcing bars are thinner than my finger, they are just wires really, concretes turn to dust, it’s this kind of shorty construction that made the parents so furious, there are several protests by parents and broke up by police. it’s a sensitive subject for the Chinese government which wants to keep a lead on aboil emotion to make sure it doesn’t spill over the politics. Then the police and soldiers arrived to keep people away and see the place off. I have to say everybody is being very cooperated until today so we can do it at school .Although the governments were appraised for quick reacting for the disaster, for allowing the access for networks and journalists, it doesn’t want this story told. Some Chinese reporters say they are forbidden to write about it. But however how hard they tried to sanitize what happened in the school or other shools like this, they can't stop the sorbbing. or make the parents forget.
