hello everybody, welcome to PrivateEnglishPortal.com. My name is Steve, and we have our happy peppy question of the week 16. And our question this week comes from a student of mine from Italy, and his name is Giovanni. Giovanni's question came up from our class, and it was about the second conditional. And Giovanni, I am more than happy to explain this to you, and at the same time, all of our online English learners. The Second Conditional, the basic structure of the 2nd conditional is the following. We have, for example, the sentence. If I had $1,000,000.00, I would buy a yacht. This is the example of 2nd conditional. So let's take a look at this structure first of all. The structure uses in a 'if-clause', if plus the simple past, ok? Now, the 2nd part, we used 'would' plus simple form of the verb. So, if we look at the conditional sentence I mentioned before, ---'If I had (simple past) $1,000,000.00 , I would buy (simple form of the verb) a yatch.' So there you have it. Now if you gonna remember that formular, that's going to help you so much if you need because you would be able to use that as your base structure for formulating a second conditional sentence. Now when do we use the 2nd conditional sentenceðžŸThis is important for you to remember. We use the 2nd conditional sentence when we are imagining something. We're imagining, okðžŸWe're not planning, just imagining that something is going to happen in the future, something that you would like to happen, something that you dream of happening, so there is no a way you can use it to talk about the past; ther is no a way you can use it to talk about the certain future. Remember, this is the key that you're thinking you are just imaging a possible future. And I tell you, one of the major points that I use for evaluationg my students is their knowledge of conditionals, and this works all the way up to the higher levels like TOEFL. In cambridge, when a student can use the 3rd conditional or even higher like mixed conditionals, then we really know you have a very good command of the English language. So that's my little tips to you, my little secret. A lot of English schools, a lot of tests would use the conditional clause to kind of measure your progressing where exactly you are on the scale of, you know, English levels. So, I hope that is answering your question about the conditional to you, Giovanni. And I look forward to my next peppy question next week, and I look forward

Hallo everybody wellcome to privateenglishportal.com, my name is Steve and we have a happy Peppy question of the week 16 and our question is from Italy his name is Giovanni. Giovanniīs question came in a class and it was about the Second Conditional and Giovani Iīm more than happy to explain the due in the same time over online English learners. The second conditional the basic structure for the second conditionall is the following. We have for exeple the santence If I had $1,000,000.00, I would bye a yacht. This is a example of the Second Conditional. So letīs look at the structure at first of all. The structure uses if the class if plus the simple past. OK Now in the second part we used word plus the simple form of the words. So if we look in the conditional to sentences to be mention before if I had simple past and million Dollars OK I would bye simple word a yacht. So they we haven īt. If You can remember that formule that is good that so much Giovanni, because you would be able to use there as Your base structure for formulating a second Conditional sentence. Now when You use Second Conditional this is important for You remember. We use the Second Conditional sentence when we are imaginating something where imagining OK were not planning Immagining that is something going happen is the future if You like to happen dream of happening so there is no a way in the past you know about a certain future, remember this is key is there Your thinking? Imagining a possibile future and I tell You if one of the points where I use it valuating my students is their knowledge of the conditionals and this works idiomat to the high level like talk in Cambridge when a student can use for conditional or even higher mix conditioanals than we really know that we have a very good command of the english language. So thatīs my secret be a school like a test to use the conditional equal is to kind of measure Your progress where exactly You are. On the scale of You know english levels. So I hope that question about conditional to Giovanii and I would put my next Peppy quesion next week and I look for the senior. Bye Bye.
One of the major points there are used student is her knowledge of the conditionals and this works higher levels like mix conditionals like tofel in Cambridge when the studetns came use to You this is the first conditional or even higher than mix conditional rather very good comand of the english language. so thatīs my recept for you was a secret.
