Key words: curiosity, passion, interests in detail.

On these items I could elaborate, because I am a skilled speaker.

Good practice by the way.

At my funeral I am going to speak myself, because I have no trust in others.

Thanks for turning in the streaming Futures. I’m Joel --- location sitting with Donna Freeman Meir, The president of Kids programming and production for the National Geographic television film, here in Beverly Hills. So thank you very much for allowing us to sit down with you to talk about your career and your pathway to success.

Looking back on your career, what personal traits and skills do you feel have been the most important to a person in your position?

It’s funny the first I was gonna to say is curiosity. I think one of the things that has helped me succeed in every job I’ve ever been in I have been a sponge. I’m always asking questions. I am always kind of paying attention to what the people above me are doing, what the people below me are doing, that I really tried to listen and learn in every single opportunity. You know whether it’s a meeting or a shoot or whatever it is. That I’m always looking and learning. So I think curiosity is number one.

I think number two really is passion. I think sometimes I’ve been called, you know, I’m really good at the passion pitch. You know I can sell you something because I’m really passionate about it. And my enthusiasm I think you can, .. I’m sort of high-energy kind of person. And I think that’s really important if it’s genuine. So I think you know curiosity, passion. And then you know just as good old working hard and no attitude no idol do that or that is below me especially as you’re growing, you should be open to doing anything and everything. And hopefully you will be lucky enough to find bosses who appreciate that. But you know as somebody who is an extraordinary busy person. There is always more than enough work to go around. And if you are ambitious and say ‘I’ll do that’, or ‘Can I try that?’ or just eagerness I think is genuinely appreciated.

Attention to detail, I can go on and on I have lots of you know things that I think is really important when I’m looking to hire somebody, I think attention to detail is critical that it was one thing to be able to have a big idea, it’s another to know how to bring that idea to life. There’re some people ‘who are only good at big ideas and some people only good at how bring it to life. And that’s OK. Because you need both of those. In industry there is --- Line producers who know how to cross every .----. Exactly, that’s it, that’s what I meant.

And then there’re those visionaries. I think just paying attention to who you are and what you like and what you’re good at will be very helpful as someone explores a career.

Thank you very much. This has been an interview with Donna Freeman Meir, one of the top 25 most powerful women in television.. Last season.. She’s powerful. Everywhere from Double kids where you will be to here in national geographic. doing some great things. I love the passion and energy. So well you know anybody watching this interview whether you going on to a career in the television industry or you just want to be successful in anything you do, Donna has great words of wisdom. Anybody can take a piece of that. Thanks very much.

Good luck, thanks
