Hello, I’m an air traffic controller, but I don’t work at an airport. I work at an Area Control Center called just Center. Now, let me explain to you what a Center is. After an airplane leaves the airport, and flying between the departure point and its destination, It may pass through many different ACC's. Each Center Airspace is divided into smaller peaces, called sectors. Each sector will have to controllers responsible for that airspace. In my sector, I direct the separated airplanes as they move through my airspace. I monitor radar scope which shows all aircraft in this airspace as tiny blips or targets. Each target represents one aircraft, and has an identifying tag. This tag gives us a important information about the aircraft, such as the aircraft name, altitude and flying speed. When an aircraft first enters in my sector airspace, I relay important weather and traffic information to the pilot. I also instruct the pilot to make a changing in heading, speed or altitude based upon that information.
