I looked at the picture gallery on the slovakia.travel site. The mountains are breathtakingly beautiful.
In China, we have many natural beautiful too like the Yellow Mountain, Jiu Zhai Gou and Zhang Jia Jie. Unfortunately a quick google search doesn't return any good site for China travel. Perhaps my fellow Chinese friends can recommend some site?

If you come to China,do not forget Xi'an.It's the capital of several dynasties.I love it best.Everywhere brings you the feeling of history. And there's still the biggest music fountain of Asia in the center of the city.

If you come to Italy, you can choose to visit the cities or to enjoy the nature.
If you like history be sure to visit Rome(Roma), the capital of the ancient roman empire, but plan also a visit to Florence(Firenze) which is an art city(buildings, churches, museums). Don't forget to visit Venice(Venezia), a city built on the water with a romantic atmosphere.
If you prefer nature i hope you like the sea, because Italy is a peninsula so it's no difficult to find nice costal places.
Moving to the south you can visit Naples(Napoli), Pompei (the ancient town buried under ash and pumice when volcano Vesuvio erupted) and the close "costiera amalfitana", very beautiful and peculiar. Go down more and you find Sicily(Sicilia), a big island rich of history(vestiges of the greek classical culture), nature, a warm climate and another volcano still active nowadays.
Also noteworthy another big island, Sardinia(Sardegna), famous for the clarity of the sea and the white beaches.
If you like mountains and skiing, we have in the north peaks that exceed 4000 meters like White Mount(Monte Bianco).
This is only a short list, although you need a lot of time to visit these places. Obiouvsly there are many other nice town or places to see like, for example, the pending tower of Pisa or "Alberobello" village with "Trulli" a particular kind of house.
Bye.

I'm sorry, i read correctly the topic just after i put my answer.
If you have only 1 day, probably you spent the whole time in airport or on the transportation, because Italy is not famous for efficiency of transport...
I'm joking, really if you have only 1 day i suggest you to visit Rome, and travel around the italian history just seeing the ruin of the empire.

Thank you for your recommendations, gianmarcovich. "If I had one day..." is just my hypothetical question.
If I go to Italy, I imagine the trip will span many days. I want to visit Rome, to see the beautiful fountain made famous by the movie "Three Coins in the Fountain"; I want to visit Florence, to view the magnificent art and architecture that I only had a chance to see in the slides of my "Italian Renaissance" class; and the trip wouldn't be complete without a ride on gondola in Venice.
Italy is definitely one of the countries I would like to see the most in my life time.
